In our ongoing mission to foster environmental stewardship and empower young eco-influencers, we are thrilled to share the latest updates from our best practices database. This resource has become a source of inspiration, showcasing stories, videos, and practical advice from youth-led environmental initiatives across all partner countries. These narratives offer not only motivation but also a deeper understanding of the crucial role that young people play in protecting and preserving our planet.

Spotlight on young eco-influencers in Georgia

Our database is full of stories of young individuals making a significant impact on the environment. Take Mariam, a conscientious 16-year-old from Georgia, who chooses to bike to school every day, regardless of the weather. Her commitment to reducing vehicle emissions is a testament to how small, consistent actions can contribute to a healthier environment. Similarly, Salome Tsikvadze, the founder of the social enterprise 'Shh', has created an innovative sensory board game, 'One in One', that offers an eco-friendly entertainment option, blending sustainability with creativity. In the picturesque region of Svaneti, Georgia, Irina and a group of youth have launched a campaign to combat the harmful practice of burning leaves. Their efforts are a powerful reminder of the impact that local action can have on preventing environmental degradation.

Community-driven initiatives in Lithuania

One of the standout initiatives featured in our database is the River Cleanup project, a community-driven effort focused on restoring the health of rivers, streams, and waterways. This initiative is powered by volunteers who come together to remove litter, debris, and pollutants, significantly improving aquatic habitats and enhancing water quality. Another inspiring initiative is the creation of eco-gardens in urban settings. These community-based projects transform city spaces into green oases where residents can engage in sustainable gardening practices.

Innovation in sustainable fashion and products in Greece and Croatia

Our database also highlights efforts in sustainable fashion. HEEL Athens Lab, a trailblazing fashion brand from Greece, has been a pioneer in sustainability, recycling, and ethical production for over two decades. Their commitment to using certified raw materials and maintaining a domestic production process ensures that their garments are not only high-quality but also produced with a moral conscience. Similarly, the Earthbound brand (MIRET), known for creating the world’s first 97% ecological sneakers, is breaking new ground in eco-friendly fashion. Founded by two brothers in 2009, MIRET's sneakers are free of chemicals, utilizing hemp's natural resistance to odor and bacteria, thereby setting a new standard in sustainable footwear. Furthermore, we feature Humana Nova, a socially responsible company dedicated to the disposal and recycling of textile waste. Founded in 2011, Humana Nova collects textile waste and repurposes it into new, useful items, demonstrating a practical approach to reducing environmental impact through innovation and social responsibility.

These updates from our Best Practices Database not only highlight the incredible work being done by young eco-influencers and sustainable enterprises but also serve as a rich source of inspiration for anyone looking to make a difference. We encourage you to explore these stories further and consider how you can contribute to a more sustainable future.

In November 2024, 3 young people from every partner country accompanied by 2 youth workers will attend the training in Georgia, where the Newspaper theater method will be tested to increase ecological awareness for young people.
