Webinar #1

Who are the leaders in environmental change?
Eco-influencer is a relatively new term used to describe a person who uses online platforms to advocate for environmental causes, using their influence to educate, inspire and motivate followers to engage in conservation activities.
A webinar "Leaders of eco-friendly communities" with Natalia Tchamiashvili took place on 2 October. Nearly 50 participants from partner countries analysed the importance of leadership for ecology and identified the essential skills and qualities of an authentic leader. Participants had the opportunity to get to know world-wide-known leaders who are making a difference for the environment and to learn about their work and actions. They learned about the qualities that anyone who wants to make an environmental impact should have, and discussed ways in which they can influence their communities and make a difference.

In recent years, Europe has seen a remarkable rise in youth leadership in environmental protection and sustainability practices. From local grassroots initiatives to influential international movements, young people are taking on roles that are making a significant difference. One of the most inspiring aspects of youth environmentalism in Europe is their ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.

Skills of a Successful Leader
Natalia Tchamiashvili presented the skills and competencies of an eco-leader and influencer needed to bring about significant change. Among the many, the most important are visionary thinking, strategic planning, effective communication, relationship building and networking, resilience and others. As the climate crisis continues to escalate, eco-influencers are positioning themselves not just as advocates, but as leaders in creating a sustainable future. The activist journey is not an easy one, it takes courage, positivity and high motivation to empower others.
