Skills - Competences

Teamwork: Mustankorkea serves as the parent company in a group where MKO Ympäristöpalvelut operates as a subsidiary, focusing, for example, on corporate services. Together, Mustankorkea and MKO Ympäristöpalvelut provide waste management services efficiently and comprehensively in the Central Finland region. With the cooperation of local residents, the goal is to elevate recycling to the highest possible level and make it a natural part of everyday life.

Together, these entities also work to guide and educate the public to increase awareness and understanding of the importance of waste sorting. Collaboration spans various demographic groups, with knowledge shared from young children to the elderly.

Community Commitment: Mustankorkea plays a vital and consistent role in raising awareness and encouraging commitment to waste sorting among residents and businesses in the area. They also facilitate proper household waste sorting by distributing recycling guides to households and allowing waste to be dropped off at sorting stations free of charge. Additionally, Mustankorkea regularly organizes mobile waste collection points in residential areas, enabling households to dispose of their waste conveniently, even if they cannot transport it themselves.

Problem-Solving: The sorting skills and motivation of local residents are not yet at an ideal level, considering the available opportunities. Mustankorkea continues to provide guidance and education in a consistent manner, striving to find solutions that motivate people to recycle.

Impact

The proper sorting of household waste has a significant impact both locally and globally. The system has been designed to be as clear and easy to implement as possible, supported by consistent guidance and education, as well as by providing opportunities for sorting. Since guidance in Finland begins as early as preschool age, a lack of knowledge should not be a decisive issue. Every Finnish resident has equal opportunities for sorting, for example, in housing complexes where sorting is mandatory by laws and regulations.
